Mini-interview with Daphné

What is your role within the Collectif de la Cité? Violinist and project manager for our Toronto branch.

At what age did you start learning your instrument and why did you choose it?

I started playing the violin at the age of 4! I have no idea why I chose it... I came back from daycare and all I wanted to do was to play the violin. My mother wasn't very interested in the idea at first, as she thought it was just a passing phase. A year later, I hadn't changed my mind, so I started taking lessons.

What has been your biggest challenge in your music career?

Learning to survive stress. I faced a lot of challenges during my time at university in managing performance anxiety. Learning to accept rejection, comparison, and everything that comes with the profession.

What is your proudest moment as a musician to this day?

Having done all this personal work to learn to become more comfortable with the idea of performance and 'perfection'.

What are your passions besides music?

Yoga! I took it up during those challenging times, and it led me to pursue my teacher training. Now, I teach it myself several times a week, hoping to help someone as I was helped by this practice. I also love cooking and taking care of my plants!

What is your biggest dream?

I prefer to keep the surprise... 🌟 Continuing to do what I love while allowing myself to be surprised by opportunities!
