CLARA NGUYEN-tRAN
VIOLIST
Clara Nguyen-Tran is an active and versatile performer of solo, chamber and orchestral music. As a member of the Aeris String Quartet, she won first place in the University of Toronto’s Galimir and Haydn chamber competitions.
Clara has played for Atar Arad, Hsin-Yun Huang, and the Juilliard, Prazak, St. Lawrence, and Jupiter string quartets, among many others. As an orchestral musician, she has served as principal violist of the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and plays with the Canadian Opera Company, Kingston and North Bay symphony orchestras.
In 2019, Clara was given the opportunity to perform and record the Koffler arrangement of Bach’s Goldberg Variations with conductor and harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock and students of the Royal Academy of Music in London, England. The performance in Wigmore Hall was well-received and subsequently broadcasted on BBC Radio 3. The studio recording was released in early 2020.
Clara completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Eric Nowlin and Teng Li. She also holds an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School where she studied with Steven Dann.
