DILLON HATCHER

VIOLIST

Dillon learned to play the viola under the tutelage of JocelyneBastien at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in 2016. His attraction to creation and new sounds led him to learn the ondes Martenot with Estelle Lemire and to discover electroacoustic composition with Louis Dufort and Martin Bédard (2017). An avid collaborator, Dillon navigates all the musical currents he encounters: classical, contemporary, traditional, popular, jazz, experimental, electronic and electroacoustic. When he is not playing with orchestras (OSD, OSS, etc.) and chamber music ensembles (Collectif de la cité, Candlelight Concerts, etc.), he performs or composes for various multimedia projects, notably for dance (Au bord de... /BIGICO), for the big screen (La contemplation du mystère/Roger Tellier-Craig), as well as for theater, song and musicals as sound designer, arranger or co-composer, with his spouse, composer Sarah-Anne Arsenault. He notably co-wrote with her the music for the radio-theatre podcast Haut du lac (Théâtre pour pas être tout seul/CKRL), prelude to the play Fond de rang (Premier Acte/November 2021). He is concurrently undertaking a professional master's degree in audiology at Laval University.

A word from Dillon

For me, being a part of the Collectif de la Cité means...

... belonging to a community of passionate and sensitive artists, strengthening human ties through the realization of a myriad of projects and devoting oneself to the development of musical life in Quebec.
