EVELYNE MÉTHOT

CELLIST

First introduced to music by learning the piano and the violin, Evelyne turned towards the study of the cello at the age of 10. She entered the Conservatory of Montreal music in Carole Sirois' class in 2016, where she then obtained her bachelor’s degree and begins her master’s in the fall of 2022.

Through her studies as well as during several advanced training courses, she obtains valuable advice from cellists Rachel Mercer, Lluís Claret, Brian Manker, Amit Peled, David Hetherington, Joseph Johnson, Elizabeth Dolin, Denis Brott and Stéphane Tétreault.

In the summer of 2019, the young cellist took part in the Orchestra's program National Youth Festival of Canada, whose Odyssey tour allows him to perform at concerts in Canada and Spain under the artistic direction of Michael Francis. In November 2021, Evelyne occupies the chair of solo cello of the orchestra of the Montreal Conservatory of Music during a concert at the Maison Symphonique. In May 2022, she participated in the first edition of the Mentoring Program offered by the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa where she has the opportunity to learn alongside the musicians of the orchestra, in particular at the first stand with Rachel Mercer in concerts at Southam Hall conducted by Alexander Shelley.
