Your morning coffee will be even more comforting in this ceramic mug handcrafted by Quebec artist Catherine Lebel-Ouellet. With her fairy-like hands, Catherine creates specific and particular glazes and clays using ceramic raw materials of mineral origin. Formed and decorated one by one, each piece becomes a unique and authentic work of art.
Handcrafted stamped mug
Catherine Lebel Ouellet lives and works in Quebec, her hometown. After studying photography at the Cégep de Matane, she went into exile for two years in London, England, where she continued her photographic research in the area. Upon her return to Quebec, the desire to study art in a more comprehensive way led her to undertake studies in Art History at the Université Laval. Parallelly, she was introduced to ceramics from an early age during workshops for the general public. The practice of ceramics has never left her and returns to her life sporadically throughout the years. In 2017, she decided to go back to school to study arts and crafts, specifically ceramics, at the Maison des Métiers d'Arts de Québec in order to expand her knowledge. Accumulating more than 10 years of turning practice, she has taught this discipline for three years at the ceramic center of Sainte-Foy. She has an artistic practice in photography as well as ceramics, and also produces series of utility pieces.
